Hello, as some of you may know i am currently trying to sell my 1998 1.6 sx. I just recieved a call from www.cardata.co.uk, saying they have people interested in buying a fiat bravo in my area. Its a one off fee of £80 to advertise with them.

I have looked on their website, and can see no way of registering your interest to buy a specific type of car in a specific area, just the normal type of search found on autotrader.

I am quite suspicious about handing them £80, but at the same time i am desparate to sell my car, and they reckon they can. Has anyone got any experience of this company? Or can anyone offer me any advice.

Its advertised for a very reasonable £3400 on the autotrader website for 10 days now, but nobody has called.

Dont do it

When people want to buy a car they buy Autotrader, which is why it is the top selling magazine and has made Mr Madjeski lots of money.

Instead of paying £80 to cardata (who are a canversing bunch of liars) why dont you drop the price £80 and see if that makes a difference?

I advertised in Autotrader and had 10 calls within 24 hours and sold next day..for a £9.95 on-line advert.

When selling think of yourself as the buyer and where you would look to find a car!!!

Also if you have webspace somewhere why dont you set up a page of details with lots of photos on it, I had over 200 hits on mine which gives an indication of how interested people are as well (I can help out on this front if required)

Good luck

I'm with Nige on this one. Cardata and such companies are a bunch of con artists - autotrader online will get you much more coverage than these other jokers so if you can't sell it on autotrader then you'll need to modify the ad.

A few tips that you may find helpful when advertising on autotrader - make sure you note the age, model, engine, mileage...maybe obvious, but people often do quite specific searches including all of the above so if you have omitted any of those details then your car will not appear in their search. A picture always helps to sell a car. If it has any extras such as aircon, metallic paint, CD changer, alloys then highlight these. If it is kept in a garage say so. If it has just had new tax, MOT, service, make this known. Above all, take a look at similar cars advertised and then make sure that your car stands out amongst them both price wise plus amount of detail. Good luck!

Re: Re: Cardata

I think I've found your advert and you seem to have done everything I said :) A few things - try and get a better picture if poss, front side view on a sunny day - Ink Black at its best! I would also omit '2 months' tax, just say 'tax and long MOT'. Omit 'priced for quick sale' as well - it raises suspicion. Also have you got another e-mail address - people often have preconceptions about students and the way they drive!! Re: price, I think it is a little high...it would be a good price if the car had done 45K miles (average for the age). However, at 75K, the price falls quite a bit - you won't get much more than £3000 I'm afraid.

cheers

Thanks for the comments people, i will change the advert right away, i have found better pictures. As for the price, i think its very cheap already, maybe too cheap. Its certainly cheaper than any comparable car on autotrader by a few hundred quid, and has Remote central locking (not standard on SX) and a warranty.

Hope i get more luck this week, and im not going with cardata. Thanks again.

nooo

I cant change my picture or email address! There is no option to change it on the amend screen, i can only amend the price and description.

No

No but what you can do is add a URL to a web sace that has the full range of pictures and descriptions and email address etc.

yep

Im onto it.

www.digiserv.co.uk

might take a short while to load the pics. Any feedback on the site appreciated. Do you really think its too expensive? :S

Feedback

Drop one of the exterior and do one of the interior. I do think it is a tad overpriced, problem being that people will look at the mileage and may be put off.

Keep pluggin on!

interior

Havent got any of the interior for some reason, i will take some as soon as i give it a good clean. I would accept £3300 for the car, but if i start going below that im gonna have less to spend on my next motor (a hlx).

I dont think bravo's are the easiest cars to sell. I sold my last car, a 106 k reg with 72k on the clock just 5 months back for £1600!! it was in mint condition tho.
