The other day finishing work reversed out of the car park and i thought i scuffed one of the other lads car a bmw mini but another guy sid you didnt but it was close his back bumper is scuffed mine isnt no paint transfer or any thing on the 2 bumpers,
But out of the goodness of my heart i informed the person saying look i think i may caught of your car we looked at both bumpers and said well yeah mine scuffed bt there doesnt seem to much if any to your bumper so doing the good thing i said look i will either get your sprayed cause i cant be sure if i did it or not he seemed fine with that now this morning he comes to me with a bill from BMW them self for 1072 pound for the job to be done and on a "maybe" there no way im paying that.
I have also been told due to the fact it is a private car park i have no legal obligation to hand over my insurance details to this driver just wondering is this true becasue that sort of money is a **** take really for a scuff

Is it a carpark that member of the public have acess to like a Tesco carpark, or is it a segrigated carpark? If it's segrigated then in theiroy insurance dosen't have to cover you, but if public they do.

And if you exchange details or not, all they need these days is a reg number.

It is a pain though, that price really is outragious. Was that a full car re-spray or something

Jon.

it was work car park and public arent suppose to go there and the price was just to repair the bumper alone

Some might say thats what you get for being honest you should have known he's a BMW driver on the whole are arse holes u wanna see recepits and whatever work has been done, ring about urself gettin a quote see if the prices match i seriously doubt they would.... As far as insurance goes play it by ear ask ur employer of your rights my work doesnt cover any cars damaged full stop soooo then u dont have to settle it full stop

A full rear bumper respray for my E46 at the local approved BMW bodyshop (part of the dealer) cost me £400 and that also included filling/ smoothing a dent on the main bodywork, checking it was OK underneath, fitting a new lamp unit, courtesy car and the fact that it was metallic paint. I have no idea how they could come up with over £1000 for a scuff!

well after nearly 2 months the guy has finally brought this back stating he wants his grand or my insurance details does this guy have a leg to stand on?

He's repaired it off his own back so I doubt your insurance would pay. Afterall there's no damage for the inspector to look at ;) if he wanted it repaired he should have given you the quote first or simply taken your insurance details.
