Car overturned !? / searched

I got pulled by the police last night around 3 in the morning and had my car searched by the special police force in my country called Alfas.
They didnt find anything, just overturned my car from the front to the back. They did that for _45 min._ so you can imagine how it is to stand and watch ppl rumble in your car for that long. They also searched me. But this kind of thing is, can say normal in my country, so Im asking do you chaps have similar stuff in UK ?

No, never, the police cant pull you and search your car like that over here without probable cause and evidence.

Really, was there any reason for it, i would never stop the police from searching my car but it can be done if you demand a warrent i think if they have no probable cause :-S

I think if they have due reason to believe that you may something in your car they can pretty much do what they like, even impound it if they want. There was a big spate of it where I live, Mansfield, a few years ago. They were doing 20 odd cars a night.

lol they did say they can either search it here on the side of the road or tow it to the station and do it there, so i didnt make a fuss they looked they found nothing they went. didnt bother me its good that they search on the spot it keeps people on there toes

They had warrents, but they where blank.
Just put your name on it and plate and presto they can do it

Its good that they can do that, i totally agree that they should be able to search anyone at anytime but as long as they dont abuse their powers. Its totally right cos they are the ones protecting us but that was a, long time to search your car and a bit excessive.

At the end of the day, if you have nothing to hide and the Police carry out the search with due care then I don't have a problem with it. Sure, we all wish that we live in a society that doesn't warrant this kind of action, but the truth is we don't. When 4 blokes can just walk on to a train or 19 blokes on to a plane or any individual can drive into a public place and then detonate bombs etc, killing thousands of innocent people, we have to accept that certain measures have to be taken.

I have no problem whit that, but if you take in consideration that once I have been stripedserched on the road and was standing in my nickers leaned on my car you get a bit annoyed by it
And I wasent a pretty sight either.
