Can't remove air filter casing

The 4 screws that hold on the cover of the air filter casing on my 1.2 Brava are completely stuck. I've tried using WD40, but no matter how hard I try and turn the screws, they aren't coming loose. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know of any clever tecniques for loosening screws?

Any advice greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

I've used a wrench with a really long (18") handle in the past. The type with the pivot that moves about, and only get tense when you apply pressure (That make any sense?!) Even with little or no flats on the heads of screws you'll find with a bit of effort squeezing them you can undo pretty much anything

Try tapping the tops of the screws with an hammer, the shock caused by the hammer will break the rust seal between the nut and bolt. Also try to tighten it aswell, ie turn it both ways to loosen.

Make sure you are turning the screws in the correct motion LOL (Anti-clockwise to open)

I guarantee the ones on top of the filter housing will snap. I hope they dont for your own sake but thats the luck i've had with mine.

I then bought another filter box and purchased new screws and this time i greased them up so that they never rust solid again (Also when refitting dont tighten them on hard).

Try the shock method, even better would be an impact driver.

The threaded inserts are just held in plastic and if they spin the only way to get it apart is brute force.

Had same problem with mine, Managed to tap and get two out but two others I had to drill out and replace with nut and bolt idea

I had to drill one of mine out. I think it is mechanics using air tools to screw them in too tight that cause half of this problem
