canklow service station rip off

took my car in they had it for 6 weeks
then they said it was an electical problem and they coudnt fix it
charged me £250 and dumped the car on my drive while i was out and left it in bits
when i rang to complain they just said it cant be fixed scrap it

Which garage and where?

got car back about 3-4 weeks ago
he said it had been to various auto electricians ect and to no avail
we just dont know were we stand
all the distributer and the wiring as just been left unwraped and unplugged
and oily parts left on front seat

right, I wasn't sure if canklow was the garage name or a place. how long were they meant to have the car for? until it was fixed?

Edit: if they have abandoned the car without attempting to reconnect anything; refuse to pay (if you can) until they at least re-attach all the wires in their correct places. I can't see anywhere else wanting to look at it when nothing is actually attached!

he never said just kept saying ill ring you
in the end we had to ask for it back as the tax had run out
he kept saying that another car had come in with the same problem and he sent it to the dealers and the bill was already £1000 and they still coudnt find the fault

to be honest we have bought a new car £500 and we are going to sell the old one spares or repair
but it made me really angry the way we were just ripped off

unfortunatly my wife already paid thinking they had fixed it
it was only when they dumped it and i opened the bonnet i saw the mess

thing is i used to take my car there and my fathers car there and my wifes fathers car there so they lost a lot of custom for there trouble

it was a polo 1.0 (we have now got a marea)

the problem was it would run for a little bit then stall and not start again
it was something to do with the electrics it was putting 16000 volts through the wiring
they checked the alternator (fine) the ecu the wiring loom
everything and still found nothing

it would run without the alternator on but as soon as you connected it it stalled
but the alternator has been tested and is fine

even checked on vw forum to no avail

Truckerg,which garage are you refering too, Fiat Stoneacre on the corner at the end of Canklow road which has been there about 3-4 years,or the service garage on the opposite corner which has been there more years than I can remember .Do name and shame.
