Just joined as a Newbie.

I might be getting a cinquecento as a small runabout. I would like to know if a cinquecento can be x reg 2000. The one I am interested in is advertised as such. Could it be the seller is mistaking it for the siencento.

My sister has an S reg cinquecento, but that's the newest I have seen. It's more likely the seller has a seicento and thinks it's a cinquecento.

I've seen a V reg Cinq in Gloucester before so its definitely possible but very unlikely. As stated already it would have to be sat in a dealership unregistered for a few years for it to happen.

It's more than just *possible* just a bit unlikely - the current dealer policy of registering cars before they get too old even if they haven't sold means its all pretty rare to see any car registered much more than a year after it was made but historically there are plenty of examples of cars registered years after production stopped (in some cases decades).

I think the cut of point from manufacture and registration is 2 years? My friend had to register some motorcycles because of this.

I seriously doubt there is any such restriction.
There was a batch of RHD 2002 build 156 that didn't start getting registered until 2006.... some not until 2008...!!

They were RHD cars for Malaysia that sat out there unsold for several years due to tax changes making them very expensive compared to alternatives. As they were RHD, they eventually made their way to the UK.
Similar thing happened to another 2002 batch that were on a ship to Aus that caught fire. Only light smoke damage, but the Aus importer refused to take them, so several years later they also started trickling out in the UK too.
Very easy to spot them as the 156 got a full facelift in 2003 and these cars were all the old shape. The Aus cars also had a larger driver's door mirror which didn't get changed on some when later sold in the UK.
