This is from the Uno workshop manual.

Here's a link to a PDF copy of the manual.

If you don't have an account with RapidShare, click "Free User" then you need to wait for about 30 to 90 seconds then click the download button.

You set the camshaft timing via the camshaft sprocket and the mark on the head, and the crankshaft sprocket with the flywheel timing marks accessed via the rubber bung on top of the bell housing. You don't need the cambelt cover, and besides you have to remove the cover to see the marks on the sprockets anyway ;)

Download or buy a Haynes manual as per Davrens post above - all the information you need is in there. (y)

On the Mk1, the steel backing plate of the cambelt cover has an arrow shape at just forward of top-centre. This lines up with a notch in the back of the cam pulley and you don't need to remove the plastic cover to see it.

I think the Mk2 has a slide-out pointer in the plastic cover, which when slid-out, aligns with the same notch on the back of the cam pulley. Therefore I think you do need the plastic cover to time the camshaft. One off a non-turbo 1372cc Uno or Tipo should work.

I edited the thread title, as it didn't exactly conform to my guidelines ;)
