Has anyone got pictures of the inlet camshaft on a 2 litre JTD?
The sprocket has spun on the end of my cam and I can't put it back correctly because I don't know the orientation. A new one from Fiat is special order at £350.
Has anyone overcome this problem before? The sprocket is a brilliant design, its a press fit onto the end of the cam. I can't be the first person this has happened to! 8 rockers were broken but no other damage. Very grateful for any advice.

sounds like a lot of money !!!!!!
i got one from motorvogue northampton for £26.12 plus vat
part no. 9633058180
this is just the hub not the sprocket you re use the old sprocket
don't try and re use the old hub or you will be buying more rockers !!!

Thanks madham, just got back from holiday.
The problem is I don't know the orientation of the camshaft. I've got a new chain and tensioner and associated parts but the sprocket isn't located in anyway! It's a press fit and can go on at any angle so I can't time up the engine unless someone has a photo.

the camshaft has a keyway on the end and the sprocket which is in 2 parts joined by 3 bolts has a key welded on the surface which bolts to the camshaft , if yours has spun it will have broken the key off and you will need a new part (the hub i mentioned) if you pm me your email address i will try and send you the pics and info you require to time the engine from my cd rom manual
also you say you replaced 8 rockers , when mine went i looked very carefully at some of the intact rockers and found small hairline cracks in some of them !! so i replaced all 16 to be safe.

Hi Andy
We must be speaking about different engines. This is the 2 litre turbo diesel out of a 2003 model. (The one like a peugeot 807 or citroen c8) The belt drives one cam which drives the other by a chain. The sprocket driven by the chain has spun on the inlet cam. The exhaust cam has continued to work perfectly and it's associated belt is perfect. My email is [email protected].

yep we are talking about the same engine (i know it very well ) i was thinking of the belt driven cam wheel !!!!!!!!
i will see if i can email some info for you

checked on my cd/rom and nothing about how the sprocket is fixed to camshaft sorry
however "wheelspin" on another post seems to have his engine apart i have asked him if he knows , keep a lookout for a reply
