Fantastic news, personally if it’s running fine I’d leave it be if the plugs are relatively new, it’ll let you know if they need doing in it’s own little way 😉 Now delete the old garages number out of your phone! 🤣
How will it tell me if the plugs need replacing?

Normally a hesitation or slight misfire. If you’re happy with how it’s driving now just enjoy it for a bit. Any more problems you can soon ask for help on here again 🙂
What brand of sparks you recommend? NGK, Bosch or something else? Just standard copper?

NGK or Bosch are both fine and you shouldn’t go wrong, standard plugs should be more than adequate as it’s not a performance engine

That's great! I wouldn't hold it against them for recommending a set of plugs. How many miles do you reckon they've done? Probably unlikely that a couple of thousand miles will have caused any noticeable degradation though. I'd just leave them be unless you get miss fire problems or you've done a lot of miles since they were done.

So pleased you've got a good outcome.

I think I have probably done about 3,000 to 4,000 miles since they were changed. Got NGK currently. Was thinking about getting Bosch

I agree with our trucker friend. Almost any standard "copper" plug will do just fine, as long as it's to spec. I use NGK myself but I'd take Bosch just as happily. I renew them every two years and check the gaps - which rarely need adjustment - at the yearly service. Last time though, they looked fine still (no obvious wear on either electrode) so I ran them for three years without any problems.

Interestingly, this year, the factor gave me a set for the later 69hp VVT engine. I noticed that, although they could be screwed into the engine the centre and side electrode were sticking out the end of the plug further than the one's I'd just removed. Taking them back to the factor and checking his computer soon sorted it out. I think, because Becky was made just before the VVT engine came in that his computer identified the later plug. No problem though, within minutes I was on my way home with the right plugs. Thumbs up for sourcing from a local factor, might have been days if an on line purchase.
