Hi,

I have a JL audio sub installed with JL audio front coaxials in the doors and one Sony HEad unit. For some reason this past week, the sound I have been having out of it sounds awful, not powerful like when you turn it up it used to keep going - now it sounds flat and weak especially the bass level.

Does anyone know whats going on

John

is everything running? no fuses blown or owt? all the speakers move when you turn the volume up?

And you havent fiddled with the hu settings?

Re: Re: Calling All ICE experts

Check all your cables for loose connections/breaks. Also check your earth lead on your amp. A loose earth lead connection will seriously reduce sound quality.

Hi,

thanks

No I haven't changed any settings in the h/u, but i will check the wiring this eve or tomorrow and let you know if it was that.

Also, different question:

Originally when I installed the front speakers, I thought i would put new speaker wire for the new speakers - but i ended up giving up as I couldn't figure out how to do it. You know what I mean? I found no way of getting the speaker wire through the door, Anyone found out how to do this??

THanks

John

John, i recently had a similar problem, i was hopeing to use the original fiat wireing to hook up my new speakers, i then found out it was a stupid block connector.

i drilled through the side of the door, sounds drastic but it took less then 20 min to do, here is how i did it

remove the speaker in the door and feel behind it, move any wires out of the way, as high as possible, tape them if possable. get a bit of masking tape and mask on the outside of the door, next to the wireing loom, about 2cm away from it, then get a 3mil drill bit and drill a small hole in the door.

on the car end of the wireing loom it is just a rubber plug so the wire can slide in the hole and the rubber plug traps it in, then after you have fed your speaker cable through get some silicon sealer and seal the hole in the door with it, it took me around 20 min per door to do, once you have the bottle to do it on the first, the 2nd is a piece of ****.

good luck mate, if u need any help or more info just let me know, i ended up with an extremly tidy job and unless you look hard you can't see the wires.
