Hello All,

I'm looking to buy a GP T-Jet to replace my current Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI, I have a new job, new house (soon) and my daily commute has gone from 90 miles to 5 so no need for the big diesel car anymore (besides it wont fit in my new garage). I'm hoping to spend £5500 which will just scrape a t-jet but if I find i'm short (buying house is eating cash) I might go for an older M-Jet. I'd prefer the petrol for running around town (Bath) as it would warm up quicker and I prefer the maners of petrols at low speeds. Either way I have some questions I cannot find straight answers to on the forum so I would be greatfull if you can enlighten me.

1) Do all Sportings have ESP/Hill Hold as standard, even the earliest ones? I note that the button is only labled as a traction control off button but I assume this is because it only disables the traction control part of the system for snow/ice.

2) Am I right in thinking that cruise control was not standard fit on any sporting until the S2? According to parkers it was a cheap option.

3) Is the t-jet engine a steel block with alloy head?

4) Has the t-jet got any particular faults to look out for? I know the 16V M-Jet suffers from waterpump and then cambelt failiure, does the GP's 8V M-Jet suffer the same problem?

5) Is the optional climate control dual zone? This has saved so many arguments in the 407:)

6) Anyone want to sell me a t-jet with climate control, cruise control and less than 40k miles for £5500? :p

Thanks in advance,

James

Welcome to the forum!

1) Yes I believe so. The ASR button (Anti Slip Regulation) just gives a bit more traction to the front wheels when turned on. ESP and Hill Holder are always on I think.

2) No, T-Jet S1s did not have cruise control as standard. I believe you can't put it in either due to the way the ECU is programmed or something.

Everything else I'm unsure on, but I'm sure somebody here will be able to help you. I have my doubts about you getting a T-Jet for £5500 though..

Distance is no object, i'm used to traveling a long way to get the right car. Now all I have to do is find one where someone has ticked all the option boxes and i'll be fine.

4) Not really

5) Yes it is

6) £7300 for mine with 41k and its yours :p lol

I've just brought a 58 reg T-Jet with 26K miles for £5700 so it can be done on your budget. Took me months to find the right one though.

Just get one......

I did and love it..and I has a Lotus and a 1.4 Active Sport immediately before.

It lifts it's petticoats well when poked with a stick
Is reasonably economical when a light right foot is used.
Quiet on a run.
Handles well.
Good boot.

Traded both cars for the TJet and haven't regretted it once.

That is seriously depressing to hear

I know. Considering I got mine 2 months ago as well..:bang:

It was advertised on here for ages with no takers. It seemed too good to be true but it appeared that I got a bargain. How much would a T-jet of similar age and mileage be worth?

I also sold a Lotus to get my GP. My T-Jet isn't quite as fast as an M100, although I was glad to exchange speed for comfort and reliability. :D

I hope my house purchase goes through soon so that I can get on and buy my t-jet. I notice that the number on auto trader has fallen a lot recently, chrismass is to blame i'm assuming!
