In Aberdeen, all but a few bus lanes are only operational between 7.30-9.30am and 4-6pm along several major routes. The congestion this causes just to let a few almost empty buses queue jump is another story, but why do almost all drivers still queue outside of the bus lane outwith operation hours?

...and why do some drivers stay out of the lane for almost its entire length, then jump into it for the last hundred yards or so, where the camera is!?!?

If your sitting ur driving test, for example, you would FAIL for not using the lane outwith hours, so why are so many seemingly frightened to use it?

Spread out, use both lanes, ease congestion, simples!!

yeh, about the only benefit of them doing it is we get a quick get-through :)

Iv actually had people tooting and even moving over to block me continuing on down the bus lane when its out of operational hours.

Idiots!!!!

Ah yes, the question of why many of the residents of Aberdeen don't know how to use two lanes surfaces once again. **** knows how they'd cope if they were presented with 3 lanes...

Oh wait...

They'd sit in the middle lane regardless of traffic flow

pointed this out when i was up there for the Fiasco fixit that time, on the way home especially, in the 40 zones every single car is doing 18-20 mph in a line in the inside lane with a free lane beside them, if the car in front slows down, they slow down, even if they stop, they will stop. They will never, ever overtake under any situation. Never seen anything like it in my life

Wasn't complaining though, meant i could blast past every single person feeling like a VIP in my own lane :D

This is the reason that as of the end of October in Liverpool, all bus lanes are revoked due to causing congestion for the full day not just the morning as designed

Totally agree Mike. King Street has to be my favourite, can pretty much do the length of the bridge of don to seaton in 30seconds whilst everyone else queues.
