Head gasket and fix cause of overheating. Soz mate but that's not gonna be pretty. :(
Would think £200+ for the gasket alone as long as the head doesn't need skimming. :(

£400 is a fair price for head gasket replacement, full flush of coolant and oil, as if the contamination is bad it can take a few attempts to flush it all through, and head skimming (if required). (Rover owner)

Well going to garage to sort out my options tommorro hopefully. and get a price for sorting her. being car less sucks :(

(out comes the mountain bike lol)

there is a head on ebay now,..last i checked it was only like £22..head skimming is about £50,but it will need a pressure check also, just incase there is a crack in it.
big al

£400 sounds about right when my head gasket went on my rover, (they were known to go on the rovers) but i was lucky to get it to the garage before the header tank mixed with the oil, it took me over an hour to get to the garage with stopping for the temp to go down, it usually takes me 10 minutes to get there

Bravo, why settle for less

400 sounds abut right for a garage to do the job

if your fairly handy with the spanners you could do it all yourself for 200 ish, including new timing belt and tensioners, head gasket, stem seals. head skimming can be doen between 20 - 50 depending on the machine shop and then its just time and renting a valve spring compresor
