Hi, I have a 20v nt. The problem I have is that when I am going rather quick 4-5000 revs I get a smell of burning oil??? I don't loose too much oil (non more than normal) it does not smoke on idle...Good oil pressure...I do have a tiny leak underneath somewhere but nothing major. Overnight I may only loose a quater of a teaspoon, just a small blob. Any ideas? Thanks...

Is this a Turbo?
Should use nearly 1ltr every 1000 miles.

Oil leak underneath sounds like a gear oil leak which will drip onto the exhaust and give off a smell. check where the drivers driveshaft goes into the box.

The day after i got my 20vt i was checcing the oill and over filled her by checking the wrong dipstick.
I realise the next day and pumped it out with a oil remove pump tho i did drive 20 miles like it.

Im 99 percent sure it was like this when i bought her but now its smoking.
Only on idle when car temp is hot[were fan kicks in]
I no its oil becasue you can smell it, its not smoking while moving or on boost.
im not losing loads of oil[1 liter in last 1100 miles] and nothing is comming through the turbo/eshast.

Paul from motermech says it will probably clear becase he dont think iv done the turbo becase its not smoking on boost and im not losing loads of oil.
When i starterd her up after removing the excess oil some was comming through the eshast but that stopped after a few minites.

Iv had the car 2 months but only cover 1100 miles but i thought it may nave cleared, I was told to check the air filter for oil and there wasnt any, i replaced it waith a new one anyway.

I was also told to change the oil and im doing that this weekend, 10w40 semi sythfetic was wat im told to use is that correct?
Also i dont want cheap stuff but im not made of money so I was thinking castrol or something, any advise?

Any ideas?
Would it take this long to clear or is it something else?

Car pulls and boost very strong and dont feel like the turbo is on its way out.

Oil presser its very good too.

Come on people, someone must no something.

please:worship:

I'd agree with the guy from motormech, If it was turbo seals it would smoke most when on boost.

He told you to check air filter as sometimes when you over fill it can come back out the crank case breather and into the air inlet.

I'd strip all the air inlet pipes back to the throttle body and check for oil and clean if found. Then like he says give it a oil change with some fresh don't forget to use flush and leave the flush in for a good while even give it a short drive keeping revs below 2,500rpm.

Then see if it still happens.

Does the OP have a turbo ?
Still do not know what a "nt" is
If the seals are shot.....it will smoke more on start up whilst cold.
When it gets hot, everything will expand and there will be less smoke.
Sounds to me like your rocker cover gasket is shot and you are leaking oil over engine (very hot) parts.

No matey :p
NA is non turbo ;)
If you choose to use a fiat (coupe) forum, you have to get used to using the correct terminolgy for the car you are talking about otherwise it leads to confusion.
NA = naturally aspirated

Well matey, the terminology used is varied to say the least, & so it seems the spelling. I'm well aware of the term NA, but the OP used NT, I guessed he meant non turbo:D I didn't think things like this were set in stone:DLOL Still, my attempt at guessing what NT means, may be wrong:rolleyes: I will try to do better next time:D

Right then mate thats what ill do, dont mean to be a pain but can you advise on what pipes i need to clean.

You dont mean the pipe that comes from the airbox do you?
Could it be the pipe that goes from the side of the block allway down to the right lf the light thats on the bumper[not the light on the bonnit] if you know what i mean.

Maybe someone can post a pic or something, i have to be sure because i learn as i go and if i havnt had to do something before i havnt a clue so i need to be sure im cleaning the write place if you no what i mean?

Also it doesnt smoke when cold!

No oil in any of the air pipes.

Get this, MOBILE 1 OIIL 5 LITERS for £7.50

Would you say that this oil is ok?

Heard of it before but never used it, i thought it was about as good as castrol?
