I am about to fix a tow bar to my Croma.

Can anyone advise of any problems with removing the rear bumper and where the fixings are located.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the rear light clusters have to be removed to access the bumper fixings.

Where do the connections for the reversing sensors have to be disconnected etc etc

Remove the rear lights (by removing the two 10mm bolts each side and then pulling rearwards, then disconnecting the plugs), there are two torx fasteners under each one. There are two vertically fitted torx fasteners each side and one 10mm horizontal special bolt which must be accessed through the small pop out panels inside the boot, there is another vertically fitted torx fastener each side which is accessed from underneath by partially removing the rear wheel arch liners. Five vertically fitted torx fasteners along the top edge of the bumper next to the boot seal, two underneath.

Put masking tape on the rear wings next to the bumper edges to avoid scratching. Have a couple of medium size boxes or similar standing by, to rest the bumper on when you're disconnecting the electrics. Remove the bumper by pulling rearwards a little way and rest it on the boxes, you will then have access to the parking sensor and number plate light looms. Disconnect them at the plug breaks and remove the bumper all the way.

This is all from memory but it's about right I reckon :)

are you sure the bumper has to be removed? i had a tow bar fitted to mine in telford and they did not remove the bumper.

Depends on the bar. My brink detachable one definitely needed to have the bumper removed, no way round it.

Just had a thought, the special fasteners inside the boot might have allen heads rather than 10mm, I'm sure you'll figure it out though :)

Look at this thread

You will almost certainly need to drop the back end of the exhaust system. Quite easy to do so don't panic. Just lower it enough to gain access and ensure it is supported in its lower position and not allow to dangle to much on the forward support rubbers.

i also had a brink detatchable fitted whilst i watched, the rear bumper was not removed!

Absolute donkey alert - I was in the garage today and noticed that my towbar is actually a Bosal, not a Brink. Ee-aaaaaawwwww:eek:
