Hi,

Does anybody know how the third year warranty works as regards seats? Mine is due in in October to check out the anti-pollution problem which is currently working fine and now I have a problem with one of the middle seats. The Fiat supplied mats had got stuck under the rear of the seat preventing it from moving on it's runners. On trying to release the seat by using the lever under the seat a plastic ring (I can't believe it is made of plastic but it is) with teeth on it has broken on one side meaning the lever now does not disengage the seat on one side so it does not move forwards or backwards. I eventually got the seat completely out and have re-engaged it but the lever is inoperable.

I find the whole third year warranty difficult to judge, it states a few exclusions but when you speak to the dealer they say "that's not covered" even though it isn't menitioned. Legally it would be hard for them to enforce any exclusion which is not mentioned I believe. However in your case it was broken when you tried to remove the seat after the carpet got caught, so unless your lucky I doubt this would be covered.

I'm going to try anyway and also if that ring had been made of metal it would never have broken. it's a pretty weak design just waiting to break.

Definitely, always worth a try

I managed to get my siezed aerial replaced towards the end of third year :) - if you don't ask you don't get. But they did refuse the drivers inner door handle on my MK1 facelift :(. At the end of the day it's a safety issue - get it checked out (y)
