Breaking up

i have a croma 55 plate and have a factory fitted blaupunkt.
the radio breaks up when in cities or towns but is fine when on open roads such as motorways.
any advice would be great

Ihad the same problem with my Idea. I fixed it with a surpessor adaptor which connects between the aerial and the back of the unit. Are you able to get to the back of your radio or is it hardfiited?

i am unsure as only had it 5 days. its a standard factory blaupunkt so getting to the back of it may be problematic.

the strange thing is though LW and MW are fine. i get 'breaking up' on FM

It may just be a case of making sure the aerial is screwed on properly, I presume it's the standard rear roof one. I believe you can buy "enhanced" ones, but I don't know thier worth. Good luck! It must be frustrating.

Dont all radios have this problem in cities when phone lines etc steal radio signals?

not in my experience no. my redio cant even find a station on some occasions.
dont know what kent's like but dont usually have this issue in the north !
