I too was initially disappointed with the performance (or lack of) of my HGT (98 'R' 147Bhp). I had a Uno turbo before that had been midly tweaked and went like a rocket. But as Nige has mentioned the HGT just has to be driven differently. It's the more civilised way the car drives and develops it's power that makes you think it's under powered, it's not really it just needs to be thrashed to get that grin going.
I ride a bike during the week to work as I can't be doing getting stuck in the blackwall tunnel queue and that gives me the speed rush I need, so when I drive my HGT at weekends it's just nice to sruise at 80 ish (
) in reasonable peace, but lovely leather clad seated comfort.
I've had her 5 1/2 years and still enjoy driving my HGT every single time. I love driving through the country lanes where I live getting her up to 5500-6000rpm through the gears upto 4th, the noise is great and the power gets fed in evenly all the way upto the red line.
