Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo v Tipo

I too was initially disappointed with the performance (or lack of) of my HGT (98 'R' 147Bhp). I had a Uno turbo before that had been midly tweaked and went like a rocket. But as Nige has mentioned the HGT just has to be driven differently. It's the more civilised way the car drives and develops it's power that makes you think it's under powered, it's not really it just needs to be thrashed to get that grin going.
I ride a bike during the week to work as I can't be doing getting stuck in the blackwall tunnel queue and that gives me the speed rush I need, so when I drive my HGT at weekends it's just nice to sruise at 80 ish ( ;) ) in reasonable peace, but lovely leather clad seated comfort.
I've had her 5 1/2 years and still enjoy driving my HGT every single time. I love driving through the country lanes where I live getting her up to 5500-6000rpm through the gears upto 4th, the noise is great and the power gets fed in evenly all the way upto the red line.

I wouldn't ask if I knew.

Not much point in thrashing the life out of something just to get it's power in. Honda did that in a much better (and more powerful) way with the 1.8VTI which developes 179bhp from a 1800cc motor. Come to think of it, the 1600cc puts out 159bhp.

Unfortunately, they looked too much like a Rover 400.

Go on.........all start crying.

Tipos all the way :) Turbo'd ones are much better though ;) oh the only problems i have with my electrics is that it has some shite earthing!

*craws back under the rock he came out of
