All,

After having fitted Marea Console and now functioning electric mirrors, I am sorely tempted to fit Front Fogs. I wanted to check before I go bumper hunting, where abouts would the cables be hidden and how easily should i be able to find them?

My Car is a 2000 SX!

Ta,

Sean

Left down corner of the bumper, there you should find a connector for the fogs, but check. Also you will need the switch, relay ....

As silly as it may seem but won't you need to declare the modifications to your insurance company as your fitting extra's, body parts to your car that never came with it as standard from the factory? Would it of not been cheaper to buy a bravo with all the bits on already. I.e. Formula, Trofeo, HLX or HGT.

Might be worth giving them a call to see if the mods will be 100% ok first.

I mean mainly adding a new front bumper. Not the marea console. :)

like joske said its definately worth checking with your insurance company about all the mods you have done and intend to do
i have declared all mods i have done to my marea and mine was a basic sx spec to but is now the same hlx spec on the outside.
my insurance quoted me an extra £10 for all the mods which was rather good
and i do have a fair few mods

Hi guys, thanks for the advice!

Would the relay not be there already? How difficult is it to fit?

Surely the upgrades as they are standard manufacturer options, they dont need to be declared? If I am wrong then I will speak to my insurers and notify them.

I have read the policy documentation in the mean time and it said i should notify them if:

"if any modifications are made to your car (e.g. any changes which may affect the car's performance)."

As they are not performance enhancing modifications, do they need to be told?

i would still tell them as i have they can find out what spec it had from new if they have to in the event of an accident. better to be safe than sorry anthing thats not standard fit they class as a modification whether performance related or not. in my case they just noted all the mods as they are all genuine fiat parts and then chrged me the extra £10 for the induction kit

cheers andy

Oh right, so you only got charged for the induction kit?

Most mods on my car are for a Fiat Bravo and are genuine Fiat parts (BodyKit) but I still pay an added premium for the privledge. (Approx £100 more). The reason i pay for it is because its been modified from standard.

For example, your car will look like a HLX rather than a SX. Therefore its not standard.

joske your right thats exactly what im trying to say you pay for the mods that you do each insurance company treat them differently my marea looks like a hlx instead of an sx

I know what you are saying, however does adding a new bumper with fog lights , ie oe spec fiat, change the insurance group of a car? It's not like adding an induction kit say. A 1.4 s &1.4 sx are both insurance group 6.

Stephend

Your making the car more attractive to thieves, so yeah. The 1.6SX is Group 6 and the 1.6HLX is Group 7.

Like i said before I have an O.E. Abarth Kit for a Fiat Bravo fitted to my Bravo HLX. Even though peeps could of had it fitted as an option it still increases my premium.

Hi Guys,

Had a chat with my Insurers (IAM Surety) who have clearly said that they will not need to make a premium change for the new bumper or mirrors as they are original Fiat Parts. If I was to add the rear spoiler or any after market products then I would need to tell them...

Can anyone give me any installation guidance as Sven has mentioned relays etc?
