I forgot to mention.. okay, i'm getting my 1.2 SX80 16Valve tomorrow... on the test drive, i had it up to over 110mph and it was still pulling and pulling. It also held 105 up a reasonably steep gradient on the motorway as well...

I was dead impressed, anyone else found this with the little engine?

iv had 126 out of a standard 1.8hlx which i thought was good and there was still some left to go but i **** myself!

Re: Re: Bravo top speed .. a little dubious!

I have 1.2-80 Bravo and I tested top speed summer and here is the result: 196km/h!!! something wrong whit the meter..... no, it´s a fast car =)

Re: Re: Re: Bravo top speed .. a little dubious!

I have a 1.4 12v and I can only get 116mph out of her but then my car is famous for its poor performance, all I can say is well done mate u didnt buy a banger like mine! :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo top speed .. a little dubious!

I got pulled by the cops for doing 135mph in my 155 HGT - the car felt VERY light at that speed I can
tell you !
However the fine wasn't so light ! - glad I was in France else it would have been bye , bye licence

thats correct

I have owned my 80SX for two years now and I am really impressed over all. Ocasionaly I do loose faith, but then the car pulls something out of the bag and I fall back in love with it. I had mine upto 115 mph and still some to go. Last bird told me slow it down....bitch....I wanted to see how far it go.

120mph

iv had my 80sx 16V just over 120mph....
but the gear box blew up at only 36000 miles....
so im taking it a little easier now....

scared

I had a crash in my old modified Uno Turbo when i went 145mph. My word that was scary. The car is so light it felt i was on a roller coaster but that was with 3 of mates in the car aswell!

I now have a 1.8HLX but to be honest i get sh*t scared in going fast. The once i got it up to 115mph without realising but still had plenty of reserves!

Brava 1.2sx

Yep, It's wierd, my Brava 1.2 has been to 117 with some to go....

Top Speed

According to Fiat I have had my HGT at an average of 139 over 3.2 miles at 07:39 - 07:41 on 7th September 2001! Clever little fiickers the last few HGTs as they record every speed and gear change and time and date stamp them...watch out for that in Europe as you can be done by computer download!

I had my Jag at 155 on the A404 last week but backed off 'cos I started to **** myself as all of a sudden it went very very light! The limiter is set at 158 but Browns Lane have had them at MIRA at 187 - although I dont think I will try it!

Well, i wasn't going to say anything

...but i will;

I just dont understand why you'd boast of doing nearly 160mph ... ? I mean, you already apparently have 9 penalty points, and yet you still drive like a tit (and boasting about it!).

Sounds like a case of "reaping what you sow".

I feel sorry for the poor guy in the oncoming traffic when your shaguar has a blowout at 160mph; driver training or not, you're in the **** at that speed!

sigh

Your right

However in my defence I choose roads that I know very well, mainly duel carriageways where there are no turnings onto it at early times in the morning and only if the conditions are 100% dry will I then open the car up.

If I see another car or anything I am not completely happy about then I back off immediately. Also, there is NEVER anyone else involved, i.e. its not against another car nor would there ever be anyone in the car.

Also, what speed do you drive through build up areas?

Yes I am the ****** doing 20mph. I have a potential road rage / threatening behavior case coming my way becasue I blocked the road, got out and grabbed this poor bloke who decided he was going to overtake me going through a village a few weeks ago - I just lost it as it was about 17:30 there were parked cars and kids about. I am awaiting the visit.

So, you are right, I have no real defence, but although you can never outrule the unexpected I do eliminate many equations.

P.S. I have 3 points, I got away with the other 6 on a technicality and received the cheque from the police last week.

Re: Your right

got my 1.6 up to 125 down the m6, but i'm sure it could have made 130 if cars didn't keep pulling into the fast lane.... damn them :)

quite reguarly make 100 without realising tho... scary! :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bravo top speed .. a little dubious!

I have posted before about why the fuzz seem to think they should spend most of their time pulling unfortunate marea drivers, but I reckon this is whyLast week I saw 140 on the clock of my 155 it was really light and jumpy over 130. With the limiter at 7400 revs, that give a theoretical top speed of 148 which as it was still pulling at 7000 (after the red line)could be possible with a following wind. Problem is that its just not stable at that speed, so why is this engine all revs and no torque? Surely they could've sacrificed a few Bhp in search of a bit mote torque and a better 0-60
