Thanks I’ll have a look at that, how do I fix the wire if it’s inside that rubber sleeve?

Start off by removing the inner hatch plastic cover.
-check if you have 12v at the heating wires
-loosen off some of the clips so you can get pull the wire a bit more.
-you can peel back the rubber sheet.. a little just 3-5cm is enough to do the job
-pull the wires so you can inspect and extend/solder/insulate/fix them.

Had a look earlier today and the wiring looks fine in that rubber sleeve, though I have maybe found the problem...



Passenger side wiring plug connected to a piece of metal that extends off the heating elements



Similar plug on the driver side that's connected to nothing, I take it this should be connected to a metal extension like the oppoisite side? The glass looks a bit tacky where you'd expect a connection to be there.

Yes, you are missing a part that is soldered on the demister contact.
I think it is a piece od copper insulated with heatshrink tube

Figures, looks like someone’s been tampering with the tailgate in the past. What can I use to make a suitable connection to the plug and is there a particular area I will need to solder the contact onto?

Been doing some stuff to my Bravo today...



Got a couple of new badges



Front badge was worn and non existent.

New badge/ boot release on the back finishes off the look on the rear. I also removed the wiper arm and motor at the same time and stuck a grommet in there and removed the Bravo badge from the side; I prefer a clean look on my cars

The only other thing I’m really spending time on at the moment, and with the lead up to winter and shorter days, I’m trying to tidy up the paintwork as it’s a bit tired looking and has a fair few marks, scrapes and scratches on it. As I’m on a rotating shift pattern each week at work I’m either spending my mornings out with the t cut before I go or out in the afternoon when I finish, using all the time I can to try and sort it. The paint is a nice metallic grey but the finish is quite hazy and rough to the touch so I’m trying to smooth over the finish with t cut, then I have some auto glym super resin polish for when I’m done with the t cut, then when I’m ready I’ll finish it off with meguiars gold class carnaubar wax. I let my uncle try that on his car at the weekend and it looks brilliant, can’t wait to try it on my car when it’s time.

Finally, I’m on my third tank of fuel since I took up ownership. The first two I used regular Esso unleaded. That returned me 410 miles on that tank at 35mpg. I filled up on Esso Supreme Plus this time round, about £65 for 45 litres of that and I’m getting 34.1 at the moment. Engine responds a bit better under load but not much else of a difference, except the noise actually, it sounds better now as well I’m on a 3 mile round trip for work (I let my car idle for a minute before and after these short journeys and any journeys to be fair) so the rest of my driving is weekend mucking about.

New drop links and inner rod and track rod ends
New inner and outer cv joints on drivers side driveshaft
Resprayed rear bumper and near side rear quarter panel. Front bumper repair and partial respray.

Currently off the road as it failed it’s mot on a split passenger side inner cv boot then two days later discovered a leaking radiator and thermostat, I’ve since replaced those and waiting till the cv joints to arrive next week to rebuild the near side driveshaft then she’ll be back on the road in time for Festival Italia in a couple of weeks!



























Absolutely loved owning this car, had a few hiccups along the way but she just gets better, looks stunning and drives amazing. Hope you like my work
