I have just bought a Fiat Bravo 80 (1.2 SX) and have come to realise there is very little security. I have been led to believe that there is an immobiliser fitted as standard but as I know very little about cars i dont know if this is true. Can anyone clarify this?
Also, I know there is no alarm system fitted and wondered if anyone can recommend a good, cheap way to go about getting one??
All comments will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks for your time,
Martin

Martin, the bravo is easy to get into, especially from the boot (unless its been smoothed over) but its nearly impossible to drive away without the key. This means that its worth investing in an alarm as a deterrent to stereo theives. The criminal with the kinda skills to get past the CODE immobilisers are the type who steal mercs and bmw's worth £30k, not fiat bravo's that are worth less than £2k.

Any aftermarket alarm can be fitted. BOO members have a range fitted on our bravo's from DIY kits at about £80 to fully installed and guaranteed Clifford alarms that cost over £500 fitted. Any is better than none...

Any recommendations for a cheap alarm / immobiliser / REMOTE central locking system "3-in-1" system??
Many thanks

Its really easy to get into a Bravo/a, smash the glass.

The Fiat code immobiliser is so good even Fiat can't crack it if you loose your keys.

i would bet my car, that a professional could steal it, somehow....

When you say "Fiat CODE Immobiliser" am I right in presuming you mean the manufacturers standard fit? (sorry, I'm new to all this!!)

I have a Microscan (AN312 talking alarm) with central door locking, it has a shock sensor, bonnet protection and a perimeter alarm warning, that talks or cheeps when near it. Cost me £90 plus £30 for the perimeter unit. Installed it myself and had never had any false alarms
or problems. For info go to

Hope this helps

christ thats a good price for an alarm, but dont they have to be fitted by a qualified installer to be insurance approved. i just had the clifford avante guard installed fantastic alarm but doesn't come cheap. had the intellistart, perimeter, anti hijack, antitilt, glass sensor and tracker installed came to just under £800 so not the cheap option but well worth it

www.directcarparts.co.uk,

theres a good selection of Toad and Microscan alarms, which one you choose depends on price and features.

Thanks for all comments, has helped me a lot.
Thanks again!!

Who'd actually wanna nick a Bravo anyways?

I've had 4 and never had anyone attempt to nick it. lol.

Okay, I realise that if you've got a sound system then you would want extra security.

I always used to leave my head unit in, never really gave it a second thought.

I guess when people see a decently-modified car, they automatically assume that it has some secuirty of somekind. My Lichen Green had naff all! lol.

Just talking from experience there.

You'll be surprised, 8 blokes took my car for a walk the other day.

But think about people who just want to go joy riding or something, either way a deterrent is better than none
