Does anybody know of the existance or price for a quick shift kit for a 1.8 bravo??
thanks

No but if you find one please let me know where and how much because i can't find one anywhere.

not made

i tried calling all of the major manufacturers of the quick shift kits and none of them make a one for the bravo at all. do what i did and just take a hack saw to the stick and shorten it by a couple of inces and its just the same anyway! it will get a bit more still tho.

good luck

The bloody gear stick in the Bravo is poorly positioned as it is. You need to be a real ape if you shorten it - or sit too close to the damn steering wheel. Its a typical Italian design - Gear stick too far away from the back of the seat unless you drive with it upright.

Re: not made

Riclemus,

Are you serious about sawing off the gearlever? How the hell did you manage that? And what about driveability? It should look good but i think gearchange is stiffer now right?

Re: Re: not made

Making the gear stick shorter has been around for years. Its not new to the moddifying game at all. Changing gears wont be harder (stiffer) but you will be able to change the gears faster. (which is obviously better if you want to drive fast)

Ever heard the expression short through gear stick??

Re: Re: Re: not made

I can safely varify all of this as i did it yesterday. took 2 inches of the gearstick and put a new gear knob on. The shift is shorter and feels more solid. i'm happy and would definetly recommend it. but i do have arms like an ape.

Re: Re: Re: not made

Yes Rob, I do know all that. But just by sawing off the gearlever effectively reduces the leverage to select the gearing therefore making it more stiff and more likely to miss a gear.

But I must admit that I like the idea of sawing off. Thing is how on earth did you guys manage to saw the gearlever off....mine is so bloody hard!

Re: Re: Re: Re: not made

Errmmm....I meant that the material of the gearknob is so bloody hard.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not made

Use a hacksaw. But you might want to get someone to hold it while you do it or you'll probably rip the bastard off. Also it is stiffer but the shift is shorter aswell so this makes up for the extra effort.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not made

If you must shorten the gearstick, it's not a great idea to do it in situ! If you get swarf into the mechanism, it'll wear out really quickly.

I had to shorten a gearstick once (Sierra gearstick in a Morris Minor) and it's fairly easy to hacksaw, but I did it out of the car, in a vice.

I don't know why you'd want to shorten the gearstick in a Bravo: the shift is pretty sweet as it is, although it's already a little too low for me.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: not made

The gearstick in a bravo is not exactly the easiest thing to get out and when you've been used to a cavalier SRI the shift of a bravo is longer than the eurotunnel.

Besides anyone with some common sense would cover the mechanism before starting. If not then you really should think more carfully about hacking off parts of your car.

But thats just my opinion.
