Great site, first of all. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one suffering from problems. I have a Bravo 1.8 and have done about 24,000 miles.
I would appreciate any guidance you guys may have. Sorry to use this as a technical quiz.

Engine - Lacks power & acceleration. Power delivery is sometimes jerky and driveabilty is poor at town speeds regardless of engine temperature. I am having to use Super Unleaded to regain some performance. Engine noisy (tapety)at idling speeds and vibrates at around 3000 rpm causing trim within cabin to vibrate. Have recently changed lambda sensor which seems to have improved power through rev range - used to get power black spots when accelerating hard.
Any good fuel system cleaners on the market or are they a waste of time (maybe we just have crap fuel in London)

Cold Starting - In cold weather car judders when vehicle is driven from stationary (mostly occurs when driving forward and taking a turn - eg: at a road junction) until engine temperature has risen.
Clutch - Travel is jerky in operation and occasionally squeaks. Seems to have become more heavy in operation. Generally becoming more difficult to perform a smooth gear change.

Exhaust - Clatter from exhaust when engaging either reverse or first from stationary. Exhaust sounds a bit "breathy" when accelerating

Passengers front window -
Window is very slow in its operation especially when closing. Internal mechanism has been lubricated twice in a year but problem reoccurs.
Rubber door frame trim (with felt type edge) is excessively noisy when driving in town.

Front passenger's side seat-belt - Vibration from within plastic housing.
Passenger's side rear quarter - Interior trim vibrating & noisy.
Vibration from rear of car when starter is released.

Rear suspension clatters when cornering regardless of road surface.

(anyone in London know of a really good official FIAT garage? Where they actually have decent engineers who know what they are talking about?)

Sorry about this. I wrote a great big essay here yesterday but the text does not seem to have been included, only the title!

Basically I've the same problem with the elekky windows, esp the passenger side. Also the passenger side 'thumps' but I'm trying to work out if it's the door or the rear seat on that side.

My clutch squeaks, going to try WD40 as it seems to be internal. I'm also going to try this time honoured method on the bonnet release catch as this seems reluctant to lock again once the bonnet has been opened.

ANd lastly I have had a bad experience with Edwards of Epsom (I hope that I was just an exception- I'll pass on details if you want them). They messed me around on a simple 36K service.

Love the car- shame about the Dealers!

Bravo lack of power after lambda sensor change!

Hey Tom!
i have nigh on the same engine problems as you but my bravo is a 1.4!...lack of power...black spots, slow down while driving and juddering while travelling along!...practically makes the car undrivable at speed!!..dealers no help...had lambda valve replaced...seemed ok but a bit flat for a couple of weeks...but now problems have returned!1...any ideas??...how did you get yours fixed...i dont know what to do!!...took it back to the dealer before xmas....but they put it on the machine and said everyting seemed ok but suggested that perhaps it was sticky valves???!!!...and that they could take the head off and replace them for 400 pounds plus!!!!!!..ridiculous!!!!.....HELP!!

Problems man!

Adam,

I have heard lots of these sticking valves lately.

I have just spent £10.00 on STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner. Seems to have done the trick - for now anyway.

I just make sure that every few miles, after car is warmed up, give it a bit of welly, let revs rise to about 5,500 6,000 to give it a bit of workout.

I have the car on a service contract, I'm due to take it in soon so any work that needs to be done will be, so I'll report back with my findings.

Do you have any problems with fuel injector light coming on at all? Also, have you tried using different brands of fuel. I have been told that in winter, they change the formulation of fuel to enable easier starting. I use shell super unleaded every forth fill up, seems to keep the old system free from cobwebs.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Until then, I guess it's time to try another petrol station.
