Can anybody help please. I have just gone through the motions of correcting what was thought to be the consequences of contaminated fuel which was pumped out and replaced with new fuel from another source, after two session with two separate so called experts both with Snap-On code reader/analyzers both said that after fitting a universal lambda sensor it was not producing the correct readings and this was maybe down to wire crimping to attach the original socket. I purchased another NTK lambda sensor and also a crank sensor as advised by the expert and after fitting the engine does start better and ticks over more even but I still have the situation that after attaining working temp it will cut out on overrun and bring on the injection lamp as if the mixture is week or rich, it also from time to time will cut out but will restart ok now, also when the engine is warm if the throttle is snapped open it will sometimes back fire into the inlet manifold as though the ignition timing is out.
Any Ideas would be appreciated

before we do anything lets make sure the silicone deposits are removed from the fuel system as much as possible. drain the fuel tank and stick 2 full bottles of redex in along with a £10 of super unleaded. disconnect the battery for an hour and then reconnect it. now drive the car hard for at least 50 miles. then if there is no improvement we can assume there is a problem with the fuel injection, in which case you should replace the throttle case with a scrapyard one (easy to find and fit, cheap to buy). if that doesnt sort it out it is time to accept that a snap-on code reader is useless and you can only rely on a fiat examiner smart, so a trip to the dealer is needed.
