Hi guys,

I'm brand new to the site as i bought a Bravo 1.9 8v 120 dynamic on friday and have some questions.

Firstly i love the car - spec looks ride everything, however i am a bit disappointed about the performance. I traded in a 03 Renault Megane 1.9DCI 120 and that felt so much torquier / faster than this car of the same power. Ok it has only done 170 miles so far i just wondered what other people thought?

Secondly i'm now seriously considering a remap to get some perforance back - but would like some advice on where to get it done and when i take it in for a service will the dealer be able to tell it's remapped? Also can the clutch and gearbox take the extra power? If they are the same as on the 150 model then they probably would no problem but just wanted to ask.

I've looked at Angel tuning who quote figures of +45bhp and +60lb/ft which is impressive but others quote total 180 bhp and 280lbft.

Has anyone had ecperience with remapping the 120 8valve engine specifically? Is it exactly the same engine thats in the astra 120 1.9CDTI?

Thanks sorry about the long post!!!

I have the same engine as you, still didn't remap but I know a thing or two about it.

First, your engine's a multijet and is a fiat engine, not the same as the astra.

The bravo should be faster than the megane, if your car is not brand new, maybe check if it was serviced correctly.

The engine without a remap is actually 136hp (probably flywheel), so by remaping it should get you around 180hp.

There are remaps that can get you more than that but you should stay clear of them since the turbo, gearbox, clutch and other engine parts aren't designed for such power.

The 1.9 16v 150 hp has a different turbo and gearbox too (6 speed).
Mine is way faster than any Megane, I guess the Seat FR diesel is faster and the golf 2.0 TDI because Bravo is quite a light car with an impressive torque.

Any way, maybe you shouldn't push your car now, you said it has only 170 miles and maybe you should get used to the car first.

Cheers

Mine (150mjet) getting quicker all the time once i put some miles on it, so i would't do anything to it until i hit 20k or so.
I happy with mine so far, 137mph is the top speed!!

I thought GM and fiat's partnership was long over? are they using an older version of the engine?

The Fiat group is the largest manufacturer of engines. They produce for ages engines for GM. It never existed a partnership between Fiat and GM. It was a takeover agreement that was meant to take plaece in two stages and was reversed after the first stage duer to GM not fulfilling certain clauses of the contract leaving GM with a $10billion compensation.

You will find Fiat engines in many brands.

I thought fiat made the engines for Gm. Has anyone actually remapped their 1.9 120 Multijet yet? I have about 260 miles on the clock now and can feel it starting to loosen up which is nice but i still like the idea of having a bit more ooomph under my foot than it has - anyone with any experience in this matter??
