brake switch 2.4 abarth

hello,,another quick question i had to change my brake light switch and noticed their were 2 holes +and 2 sets of switch connectors but only one switch ,,should their be 2 swiches ?? and as i have an intermitten gearbox failure message,, i read on here that someone changed there brake switch to solve there failure message how are the 2 connected ?? thanks
