I was driving normally down a steep hill and applied the brakes. They made a funny knocking noise and then the brake pedal started pumping. I can also feel it through the steering wheel.

I stopped for a while to see if I could see anything but everything looks fine. I drove off again but the issue is still there. Every time I press the pedal I can feel the pump in the brake pedal and through the steering.

The car only has 8100 miles on the clock and is never driven hard.

Has anyone else had a similar problem or have any ideas?

Are brakes covered under the warranty?

It sounds like the ABS is working, this releases the brakes and pushes the pedal back up. NOt sure why though. If it does it under normal braking then probably needs looking at.

I took the front wheels off and had a look. Both front disks look ok from the outside but the inner side on both disks are totally knackered.

The drivers side one is very badly warped and most of the inner face has fallen off and this is what is causing the pumping in the pedal.

Does anyone have any idea if this is covered by warranty?

My brakes do the same thing when ABS kicks in and i assume they are supposed to do that. It really is a horrible grinding and pumping. Brakes are pretty good for ordinary driving though, just notice it when I brake on gravel.
Not pleasant.
