Apparently when i was fitting the new shocks i got some crud between the pad and the disk, cause the shuddering under heavy braking. I dont know how but thats what the garage says and its stopped now.

Next problem is these traffic calming bumps. Theres loads about my house each one made up of 3 bars about 10mm high.

Now everytime i go over one of theses my stereo and interior light go off, and when i park up the central locking or alarm doesnt work. And it get it all going again i have to go back over one of these bumps.

Suggestions? Lose connections some where??

Oops ment to say, when the stereo and that go off, the exterior lights, windows sunroof etc still work.

Its a 1.8HLX 1996

Surely not another Fiat electrical problem.

All the "regulars" assure me that their cars are problem free!

The best thing to do is to circuit test all your electrics with teh engine running - after of course you have ensured that all you fuses are the correct ampage and are not loose in their housings.

Failing that - I would seriously recommend an auto electrician as once you start fiddling with these buggers, things go from bad to worse.

Re: Re: Brake Problem sorted, now another one.

Check your fuses are all shoved in correctly.

Int light is fuse 12.

Or it could be the fuseable links under the bonnet, right hand side at the back under a black cover.

Just make sure there are no corroded connections.

Problem sorted.

My own fault really, theres a loom about the drivers sturt thats help by a black plastic clip thing. Course you have to take this off to get one of the top nuts off.

Being the gentle person that i am i managed to break a few clips that hold it down. So it was banging about everytime i hit a bump.

Solution: Zip ties (well at least untill i get a replacment). Went on the bumpiest road i could find and didnt cut out once :p

Re: Re: Re: Re: Brake Problem sorted, now another one.

:) That will be the loom to the main fuseable link box!

Hows the ride on the bilsteins? My rears are giving up again so I might just get the lowering kit this time.

aahhh makes sense, silly me :p

Its goooood, i drive a country road back from work it in the wet today it just gripped and gripped and gripped. Looks good too.

I've still got to fit the rear dampers. How did you get around the problem of the upper mounting bolt on the rear dampers?? I've just got a deep socket to go through the hole. but not tried it yet.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Brake Problem sorted, now another one.

Fitted the rear springs?

I used a 15mm socket taped to a long 1/2" extention bar.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Brake Problem sorted, now another one.

Yeah the rear damper. The lower bolt is on the swing are, and the upper one you get to through a hole in the chassis leg. That one you yeah?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Brake Problem sorted, now another one.

there should be a plastic sleve going through the rear chassis leg dont take it out cos if u drop the bolt u r f****d need a new 1 get a welding rod or similar and put a small bend on 1 end when the 15 mm bolt is loose put welding rod in & hook it out its quite simple

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Brake Problem sorted, now another one.

Yup, the fun bit is getting the new shock in the right place. You need a torch to see when the hole has lined up.
