Was driving about the other day and the Brake Pad warning light come on, and then a few minute later went off, so thought i would have the wheels off to check.

Car only had 16k on it and i only had it since 10k.

Checked them and they only had about 3mm left, checked with Citroen for replacements and they want £99 for the pads alone.

So i ordered some off EBC ones off ebay for £20, anyone got any idea of how easy they are to fit myself??

and i though dealer parts were getting more reasonable..... .

I know on the panda forum some people were getting very high wear rates but not sure if that was what the dealers were telling them or what was happening.

It should be a simple job, especially as the car is so new. Wheel off, a couple of bolts pads in and done. Depending on how profficient you are it might be worth using a screwdriver to lever the pistons back into the caliper while they are still attached. This way you dont have to hold the caliper and can lever off the disc.

Hi Geminifm
If you still have 3mm left on both brake pads (check both wheels, because generally the driver's wheel wears faster), don't panic. You still can run a bit before replace them.
It's not a hard job. Just be patient and pay attention what you're doing. I'm sure you will do a good job. I'm about to replace mine as well (18,5K miles). When I do, I'll try to post some pictures step-by-step.

I done mine at the week end, was very simple to do.

Just a note for you all when you buy new pads from a Autoparts place the box may say they are for a stilo 1.2/1.6, mine did, this is correct!!!

Brake pad & brake disc (rotor) wear is very much more down to the driver & the conditions the car is used in than the car itself.

I had covered 74,000 miles over 4 years in my re-mapped 1.9 MJet Grande Punto & still had just under half the original pad thicness left, & a just about discernable ridge on the disc edges.

I brought the car second hand off a dealer.

I think the previous owner drove it hard as the trip computer was showing under 40mpg when we test drove it, I get around 50mpg as you can see below and I dont hang around.
