So last night i was on my 25 mile daily travel on my way home from work and my brake pad warning light came on the dash.

Looks like im going to have to change them lol.. my question is how much would i be looking at to change the two front disks and pads? is it hard to do? How much would a garage likely charge me?

Thanks

As a rough guide.

None genuine Pads about £25. None genuine Discs about £30-£50 per pair.
The job would take a competent mechanic about 2 hours.
Average labour costs being about £60 per hour, so i'd estimate between £150 and £200 in a garage or £60 - £75 if you did it yourself.

Hi Mate

Nah, it was a private sale.. i put it through its MOT last week and it passed, the only advisory were that the pads were slightly worn and also the driver side disk needs changing.

I was planning on doing it, but didnt realise it needed to be done sooo quickly lol!!

Don't rush, the warning light probably comes on when there is 20% or so pad left. That's thousands of miles of life left. I'm not saying ignor it, I'm just saying it doesn't have to be done right away.

I wouldn't take any risks when it comes to brakes.

My brake pad warning light came on as soon as my pads started making that horrible grinding noise. And there is a noticeable difference in response.

I'm getting mine changed on monday, I can get a breakdown of parts prices if you want.

I'm getting them changed my my independent local garage
