hey guys,
ever since I fixed my new brakes on (pads and discs) whenever I let go of the brake pedal I hear a clonking sound coming from outside of the car. It seems to be coming from the front of the car. Also...it only happens when the car is in motion. THe clonking is really loud and can be heard by ppl who around the car. Anyone have any ideas as to what it can be!?

Thanks in advance guys,
I am hoping to eliminate my brake problems once and for all

Random stab in the dark if im honest, but i reckon your brake balancing is out

try bleeding the brakes, or just pumping them to try and get the automatic calibrator thingys (don't know what their called - sorry) to adjust. they do it themselves, but its more effective after a bleed of the system. the haynes manual shows the bits n bobs, so have a look in there.

I have limited knowledge on this, but I do know what you mean as I had similar problems but before I changed the pads, so other than the above I can't offer any advice

First make sure you have not left anything off when you reassembled the brakes. When stripping brakes always do one side at a time so you can you can use the untouched side for reference if you get caught out.Sounds like one of your brake pads is moving in its housing. Is the small locating plate with the small "R" clips still on .Get hold of each caliper and try to move it to check for movement .Have seen some new pads where they are made too small and move around in the housing .Also are the pads located with small spring clips?have they been refitted.Been a while since i was at one of these ,but i have seen this problem before, its usually something left out when you reassembled brakes. Some brakes have a spring clip that fits into the caliper piston if these are broken then pad will move around.
