Hello everyone,

I'm new to the world of forums and this is the first one I've written on. My wife has a 59 plate fiat 500. A warning light has appeared on the dash - a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the center of it. I've had the book out and its a warning that the number plate lights are out. I've replaced the bulbs but unfortunately there still not working which is making me think the fuse has gone. I can't work out from the manual which fuse to replace. Can anyone help? To make matter worse the boot won't unlock now either. The lights flash when I press the key fob but the boot won't open. I've had a look on this site and there is a suggestion that it might be the micro switch. Is there anyone who could advise me please.

Thanks in advance Mark

I am new to the forum myself but a friend at work who has a 500 has advised me that the boot switch temporarily seizes every few months and a squib of WD40 or similar up the side will normally sort it. hope this helps.
As for the lights I don't know where the fuse box is but if you have fitted Led's in the number plate lights, the Led's only work one way round and also the canbus wiring doesn't like Led's and may give a bulb out warning light.
Hope you get it sorted soon (y)

If the lights flash when you press the key fob button but the boot doesn't open it's more liely there's no power to the solenoid. That, and the faulty lights, suggest it may be a case of the dreaded broken wiring loom. I've had a faulty micro-switch - it doesn't prevent you opening the boot with the key button, but if there's no power available neither will work.

Pull out the rubber conduit and check the wires around there for fractures.
