Bonnet Catch stuck/snapped

the bonnet catch on my mk4 cabby seems to have snapped

went to do a oil check etc and i noticed the lead that hooks on to the realease mech was loose, i tried pulling on the wire and using plyers because it's too slack for the bonnet puller under the steering wheel to realease, this didn't work, it seems jammed.

is there any way i can realease it round the mech under the bonnet?

Try getting someone to wiggle/pull up the bonnet as you pull the bonnet release mechanism, this happened on my mates Punto and doing that fixed it...

yeh you can, tried pulling it and looking for the cable but still cant get it

all you have to do is actuate the mech where the cable would pull on it.
get somone to push down on the bonnet(not with herculean effort) as you release the catch

See if you can see the mechanism through the grill and try opening it through the grill with a long screwdriver

thanks for that guys but i've just another look, underneath too, the leaver on the mech under the bonnet is quite big and goes behind the radiotor and i can't get to it and see where the cable pulls on it

sounds like the cable has come off at the bonnet catch, which explains why it is slack at the lever and pulling the cable has no effect.

unfortunately the mechanism is designed to make it difficult to open, for obvious safety reasons. i would remove the grill carefully so you can manually release the bonnet catch.

well i'll give it a go, even thought of removing the bonnet vents to see if i could get my hand in.

ill have a go tommorow between work and college
