Ever been told traffic wardens aint working to quotas??

The unions Unite and Unison say wardens often have to meet targets to qualify for overtime and other perks.

Parking attendants have told the BBC this means some tickets are issued when there is no real justification.
Tossers. Can't say I've any sympathy for them at all:tosser:

Not surprised.

When I was at the Tenacious D gig at the SECC, got a ticket where there was no yellow line, no blocked exits, but there was a "No parking" during certain times. Couldn't believe I got a ticket and a few others around me said the same. Been to loads of gigs and parked there (just round from PC World) and not had the same happen.

The one's in Paisley though are much better, actually give you a chance to move before they hand out a ticket. I don't have anything against the wardens though, it's the people that manage them that I have a grudge against.

Yeah exactly, they (traffic wardens) are being penalised because people are (generally) not stupid enough to park somewhere they're going to get fined. A bad reputation earned through mis-management and one which will haunt them for their entire career, even if their rules change.

I should maybe clarify here, as I've never received a parking ticket.

I agree with the concept that you should park legally and what not at all times. If you stop your car on double yellow lines then you run the risk of being booked, same as if you speed. However it's the warden culture that gets me. When you see them milling around a car in a bay, with the minutes ticking by. Things happen, people can be late. Should they be peanalised for being a single minute or two over their time? That maybe will, as you suggest, lie with management though. Go for the easy pickings, rather than where the occasional car actually causes a proper obstruction.

There are doubtless many more anomolies that I can't think of right now, but you get the point! No doubt Steve will have a point or two about this!

Erm, yeah! i'm a tosser!!(y)

Right, first off, There is a difference between the traffic warden and a car park attendent....the pay! lol!

I tend to try to get the car moved on before slapping fines on, because A)i'm to lazy to write out the fixed penalty notice and B)9 times out of 10 the people i book are people that i'll have to deal with at a later date!

problem is though, if you try to move people on, then its your fault they had had to park there, so you're a loser either way! Me and my boss(as far as i know) dont get commission, but if you are young, female, pretty hot looking, and grovel, then you should get off with it! ;)

We have a 30 minute parking rule for one area and a 4 hour parking area at the hospital here, which i do NOT enforce at all!

I give people 8 minutes illegally parked on double yellows etc, and if its a good enough reason why they have parked there then I tend to turn a blind eye!

But I never get told to book more people to gain revenue!:nutter:

Ahemmmmm..... so long as you weren't the tosser who gave me a parking ticket on a marked HM Coastguard vehicle 3 years ago in Elgin when the car was legally parked
That's a long story (and a while ago) which I needn't go into now, but I was less than amused at the time - I was very much Mr Angry :furious3:

To lighten my mood I can only share with the forum something that tickles my sense of humour (OK, I'm easily amused) and that's the traffic wardens in Inverness now have 'marked' scooters (with little flashing lights - PMSL) so they can respond to 'problem parking areas' quickly :nutter:
Cracks me up every time I see one
