In Laymans terms, will someone post how to bleed a clutch on my Bravo, 2000 Reg, 100sx.

Thanks!

halfords will in the haynes manual sittin there waiting to be bought like the rest of us have. its complicated and too much to put on the net. the £17 i spent on my haynes was worth every penny i suggest u do the same !!

Excuse me, but that sounded very rude.

I have infact bought a haynes manual, however, it is currently over my brothers house over 100 miles away.

And further more, how is it any more complicated than say, a cambelt change, which people have done top guides for, and posted on here.

i didnt think it was rude actually thats the reply that a lot of peps would give unless its already loaded up on the forum. take a joke it werent rude. maybe some one else will load it up for you.

remove the battery tray and under it you will find the little bleed nipple on the clutch slave cylinder. attach a piece of tube to it crack the bleed nipple open. place some brake fluid in a pot then take the other end of the tube and place it in the brake fluid in the pot. then proceed to bleed as you would do the brakes but pressing down the clutch instead of the brake.

Make sure brake reservoir fluid is topped up and top it up as necessary during the process. Remove battery and tray first.
Two people needed.
One sits in car to press clutch pedal, t'other has head under t'bonnet with 6mm ring spanner at the ready. (Think it's a 6.)
Open bleed nipple on the end of the slave cylinder as t'other one SLOWLY presses clutch pedal to the floor.
As the pedal reaches the end of it's stroke, close bleed nipple.
Let pedal back up.
Repeat until no more air comes out.
Wash fluid away with copious amounts of water, as it's an excellent paint stripper.

The other, less messy way, is to run a 1/4" rubber tube from the nipple into a jamjar lower than the cylinder, containing enough fluid to cover the end of the tube. (The first way is the lazy way!;))

re bleeding clutch

One way to do it with a one man operation is to buy a special tube.(any motor shop,£0.99) all that is is a rubber tube blocked at one end with a slit in the tube. allows fluid out but stops air getting in. attach to bleed nipple, open nipple about 1/4 turn, ensure fluid is topped up, pump clutch pedal 4 or 5 times. close nipple, and top up fluid

THanks a lot!

I did it this afternoon. I never realised what hassle it was too remove the battery tray before! Looked easy, ended up disconnecting about a million different ancillaries

you should try and change a clutch :)
