Hi there. Just came up with an idea. I bought a GP 1.4 T-jet 08 plate an I now have a BlackBox insurance with Ingenie. I came up with an idea today.
Basically I saw how the guy installed my black box and its connected to the red and black igition wires... My idea was to fit a Li-Po battery and connect it to the black box, so that i can connect it and disconnect it whenever i want to.
I just wanted to ask if it would work and if the insurance company would ever know if i have done this.
Obviously i know its against their rules but driving in a 120bhp car like a Old granny is a pain...
Any Ideas ?

You've also just told them (Your insurance company) on an open forum of your thoughts. All I would say is don't get involved in an accident because if they find out the box is not connected at the time of the accident then your not insured.

E.G. Police say your car was doing 45mph in 30 zone 5 miles from home at the time of the accident, but the black box says you were stationary at home. I believe you may also be commiting fraud, but I'm not sure on that one. Someone else might be able to correct

You guys are quite right, it was just an idea that came up to my mind. I also forgot that it has a internal battery thats working all the time. ;)
Thanks for your thoughts

just drive like a granny for a few years, black boxes dont work for everyone but worked out cheap for my daughter untill she was 25 then normal insurance became cheaper than the black box, maybe because it had made her a more carful driver so she had a clean record as well as reaching the age of discount

I know having black box is **** thing but if you want to drive you need to have it unless you can affod insurance without it. Ive paid about 2k for mine and im with ingenie aswell.so far they gave me about 230pound back and i will be looking to get 150 in january this will be for.mine.3rd quarter. Ive been looking already for insurance for next year.just to get rough idea how much will I.have to pay for 2nd.year and it seems that i will be going for.insurance without.black box as it is only 100 quid difference.
