Instrument Panel Failure
Just had a new instrument panel fitted on my Fiat Ducato 2.3 Motorhome. The car is less than two years old and has been driven 16 000 kilometres.
This is the second time the instrument panel has been changed, and both times the error indication was identical. When engaging the cruise control the instrument panel lit up with several warning lights including – overheating – low level fuel - water in diesel filter - Fiat Code Immobilizer failure, and the lights could also vary with a cold or warmed up car. When connected to MultiECU Scan no errors stored in the ECU were detected, and the car was functioning normally in spite of the “Christmas Tree” lights on the panel. Apparently a common fault according to the local Fiat dealer, and both times the repair was carried out under warranty.
I am pleased with the response by the dealer, but it worries me to go on long journeys with a vital part in the electronic system that seems so fragile and potentially expensive when the warranty runs out. Is this a problem known to others, and what is causing it to happen? Both times the error has occurred after long winter storage indoors in a well ventilated and dry store. The batteries have been topped up with intervals using the original charger fitted by the manufacturer. The car is fitted with an aftermarket radio-CD player, which is coupled to a reversing camera. An alarm integrated with the remote control is also fitted. All working as it should.
