im in the planning stages of our Daughters 1st Birthday bash, and have an idea in my head an idea for her Birthday cake, its a rather simple design but I need it to look professional.

All i need to source now is someone/somewhere to make it!. Ive searched the web and there appears to be loadsa places! Think with something like this it is better to go off a recommendation, anyone used or can recommend a cake making company? Im in the North West but am prepared to travel

dear me lass, just make your own. then you can take pics with baby having fun getting covered in flour, and you can look at the pics in 25years and cry, oh the memories! plus you save a few quid.

nah i need it to look good! as its gonna be the centre piece:)

Hmm the baby is 1 and isn't going to remember.... I seriously wouldn't bother going through that. Make your own if your fairly savvy in the kitchen :). AS jug says get the little one to join in :D.

I'll be doing similar with my little girl whos 1 in feb :).

Every mum wants their childs birthday cake to be super special and especially as its the first. My daughter is 7 this year and her birthday cake is gonna cost *cough* £85

My advice Emm, find the cake you want and go to a few cake makers round about, even look in the yellow pages and ask them to copy it

While we're on the subject of birthdays, can anyone suggest a decent childrens entertainer in the west mids?

I work in a wedding venue place, the caterers we use do some unbelievable cakes, we recently had a gay partner ship, and the wedding cake featured marzi pan charactures (sp?) of the grooms and all their guests, and the detail was incredible. I'm not back at work til Sat, but I can get you a number then, I'm having a mind blank what the companies called :S I think its this one,but not 100%

...Dobby; yey someone that understands how important it is(y) The idea i have is in my head, im yet to find a cake that matches my design anywhere.

...1986Uno45S; ta for that I'll enquire how far away they are:)

...Sammi; I is in Cheshire:)

...Magical Trevor; sounds good to me, I'll have a gander thanks:cool:

...for those that 'dont aprove';)
I'll explain in more detail. The party is going to be a BIG gathering with all our family and friends invited, as we chose not to have a Christening the event will give everyone chance to meet Rosie and each other:) therefore a decent cake and catering etc is required(y)

A friend of mine used to be employed making edible decorations, She claimed the job was a piece of cake but they didnt pay enough doh!
