Hi i am getting fed up with putting the back seats down in my bravo to take the bikes from place to place.

I want to buy a bike rack but having some trouble trying to find out which ones to go for.

does anyone on here use a bike rack and if so which ones do you use.

I have found http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...uctId_251029_langId_-1_categoryId_165477#tab4 but in sotre it says in only fits bravos before 07 but i have a 2007 5 door so is there much difference between the back end of the 2007 and the one before 2007.

Cheers

i used to sell cycle racks about 10 years ago, are you looking at ones that fit on the back of the car? you need to avoid anything that will rest on the screen because if you have the front wipers on and go into reverse the rear wiper automatically comes on and its bye bye wiper.

also, since then, seen a lot more people using light boards on them, dont know if this is the law now, but i know previously if it covered the reg plate you needed a plate to hang on the rack.

when i was MTB-ing it was roof bars and set up that way on our motors.

is it something that used occasionaly or all the time?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes i am looking to do it at the back of the car instead of on the roof if i can. I forgot to take into account the rear wiper going on when in reverse.

It will be used twice a week to get from my house to my girlfirends and visa vera. It will also be used more in the summer probably so can go on rides further from home.

The one i have picked out from halfords looks like it may clear the wiper area but might be different as it is a different can in picture. Regarding the plate, if i get the high mounted one then it should cover the reg plate but that is something i will keep in mind aswel.

I investigated this two years ago and ended up buying roof bars. I struggled to find a rear rack that would fit. I asked Thule and Fiat and they said the angle of the rear screen was too steep and there is no lip on the bumper to rest a rack to make it.compatible with a rear rack. Ironically after I bought the roof bars and cycle mounts there was an advert on tv for the Sky cycle team and that featured a Bravo with.a rear rack. Therefore out there somewhere must be a compatible rear rack!

I've gone in a different direction :D

Namely I got a towbar fitted

I'm on my second carrier (got a 2 bike carrier then found a need to carry 3 :bang: )

I have a Thule carrier the guy sold 2nd hand but he had never unpacked it from the box :) (y)

confucous say easier to pick up bike 1 foot than 4 to 5 !!!

I didn't fancy damaging the paintwork struggling to get the bike on the roof.

i forget im 6ft and a bit big...

saying that, bravo, like most modern cars, is quite tall. back in the day we were tearing up to delamere or wherever in one of these beasts
1991-Ford-Escort-Estate_small.jpg

with the bikes on the roof.

the height difference even now between the 306 we have and our bravo is massive

that brings back memories Dad had a K reg escort 1.6 estate with the 2 tone black lower 1/4

then an r reg 1.8 si (just before they released the finesse which looked like the si)
