Hi folks

Rear coil spring has just snapped on drivers side. TBH, ride quality has been poor for last six months, and rear suspension creaks when going over bumps. Can anyone recommend a good make of springs which will improve ride quality, (but will endure the 27 speed bumps I drive over twice a day when going to and from work!)?

Is poor ride quality the norm for stilo estates, or is it just mine with the problem? Should I replace the shocks as well?

Car is 53 reg Stilo 1.9JTD Multiwagon in silver.

I know of another owner that had considerable problems with the rear springs on his MW ..I wouldn't go back to the fiat springs and would source an alternative and recommendation from some of the many threads on the sitlo boards..we cant really say if your shocks are shot because we are not in the position to inspect the car..but a quick inspection should establish if any are leaking and past their sell by date ..in the case of the MW you might also wish to consider the use of spring assisters if you use the car consistently with heavy loads on board ..

I have Eibach 30mm lowering springs fitted all round and they transformed the car when fitted along with the Eibach dampers on the front and Koni Sports on the rear!

The car corners so much flatter and the ride is far more controlled and non wollowy.

The car also looks great with the 17" blade wheels sitting up into the arches.

I had the rear bushes and front drop links replaced at the same time and it made the car feel brand new again.
