best polish

Most things by turtlewax and the like are good, you generally get what you pay for i think.

Best time to apply is probably just after the car has had a good clean (y)

Wouldnt recommend polishing or waxing in the winter, waste of time (n)

Ive got some autoGLYM works like the doggs bits

Nielsen. liquid gold, its the stuff manufacturers use on show cars, and it works very well. :slayer:

is it worth using a special polishing cloth or just a normal cloth and some elbow grease

I use Autoglym Perfect Polishing cloths, I find that I get an excellent result with them.

Any of you, used their wheel cleaner?

I clean my wheels every week so I don't need to use a specialist wheel cleaner, but I do use their wheel cleaner on wheels that haven't been cleaned in a while and it works a treat. (y) It's too harsh for every day use though IMO.

put polish on with special foam pad

:yeahthat:

that way you use less polish and work it in well...

something like this

and take it off with a new clean microfiber cloth

SRP is treated in high regard look at this thread about half way down the first page it shows what SRP can do

done the car on saturday went to halfords got an auto glym complete kit, polish, conditioning shampoo, wheel cleaner and glass cleaner all for 19.99. Was a bit sceptical when i read the polish and what it will do ie rain water will bead off the car but blow me down with a feather it actually works and the wheel cleaner worked a treat on my wheels nice and shiny alloys now (apart from the kerb damage caused by the previous owner) glass cleaner is excellent to would defo recommend to anyone:slayer:

That's exactly the time when you need to and should be doing it!!

Oh, and apart from the 'Gloss Guard' sealant - the rest of the Turtle Wax products are rubbish!!

Not necessary Dave ,the dirt is lifted off into the sponge provided,it also lifts off Tar marks.I carefully tested a small area first on the sill,it left no swirl marks or light scratches:DYou must also use miracle cloths (easily available)for polishing up.

ive just used that new turtle wax one, ice wax or somthing alike lol! cant remember what its called and i only used it about 20 mins ago! but for the price i cant fault it has given a nice shine to the car really simple to use 2! i was a wax virgin so simple was good can do plastics lights etc all with the 1 polish!
