I'm 18, a student passed 5month ago, and my insurances is worth more than my car. so far i've had quotes from £2,500 to £7,000 (Fully Comp and 3rd Paty, F&T) i've got a Fiat Sei Sporting S reg.

If i go on my dads it's £800 and we are scraping money together, i would be more likely to go my Dad's so they said Pass Plug will not afect th quote is this tru?

Is there any other (Guys mainly) with this problem?

I Hate the idiot CHAVS in Coarsas and Nova's that keep racing and pushing the premiums up.

ok, well i will do that, my dad is with Norwich Union, my dad is the main driver, but its my car, please anymore hints and tips wud be appreciated

Ecar quoted me about £1400 for the same car (I'm 19). Not great, to be frank, but when everyone else, including Quinn and Tesco, wants upwards of £2k from me...

Where you live will obviously make a huge difference, me being based in Bradford. I assume Blackburn ins't exactly the most desirable town on earth either.

Couldn't agree with you more on the cap wearing Corsa nutjobs. If they would introduce a sort of 'common sense test' or something for L-platers, we wouldn't have such a problem.

I too could try buying the Sporting, insuring it in teh father's name, and being added as a named driver, but I'd normally wouldn't get no claims bonus, and if if caught out with such a trick....oh dear.

Otherwise, I could just drive my father's car (would be maybe £400 on top of father's initial premium), however, my father is interested in buying something called a Suzuki Wagon-R (ubbish)... not great, and perhaps something I'd only consider as a last resort.

i mainly live in Sheffield but the car is at my parents house in Blacburn there is a couple of 100 difference

My son has just turned 17 and has bought himself a nice little cinq 899, main reason being insurance. He was quoted from 1500 to 6500 TPFT, stupid. Other option was drive on someone elses insurance but then he does not earn NCB. We then tried Admiral car insurance multi car policy they quoted him at a grand for TPFT if I changed to them as well, made no difference to my insurance quote so we did it. Saved him a bundle and he earn his own NCB so next year will be cheaper still, providing no prangs.

Peugot 806
Sei michael Shumacher
Cinq 899 SX

I got insured TPFT at 17 no NCB on my 1.1 Cinq Sporting for £1130 with Churchill, and it isn't too desirable round here either, this was with churchill, I think you are doing something wrong to get a quote that high.

I'm 18, and paid 1575 quid on my "R" Cinquecento Sporting... thats Fully Comp. with legal cover, including 20% Pass Plus discount, and 10% Mutli-Car Discount, and thats with DirectLine..

In Comparison:

AA - 2.5k
Quote me Wappy - 3.5k
Hastings Insurance - 2.8k
Money Supermarket - 2.5k - 5k
Tesco's - 2.1k

Apparently Tesco's suck ass as well, personally i would go for direct line.

When I was 17....driving a Proton 1.3 12v..which are a git to find spares for....I was only paying £1600 TPFT.
They want you to pay £7k on a 1.1? Even at fully comp that is ridiculous.... my mate cost £7k to insure his xr3i cabriolet when he was 17. Not really in the same class as a 1.1 sei.
I did pass plus and CIS equated it to 1 years NCB....I also got a discount for being the first family member to go with CIS.....gave me 35% discount...might be worthing looking into.

i am 18 and my insurance quote for a Fiat Bravo 1.8 16v HLX 1998 was £1650 Third Party (No F&T)

and that quote was from Budget car insurance :)

give them a go :]

OK this was back in 1999 but I paid about £1200 fully comp on a brand new Sei Sporting with Tesco.

I'd personally suggest checking out Tesco and Direct Line, both seem to be very competitive and always beating the major players like AA, Norwich Union and Churchill.

I noticed when I was renewing my policy that MINT had started offering insurance. Considering they are owned by RBS aswell as DL, maybe worth doing a quote with them aswell.

Also go to www.confused.com takes out so much hassle for searching loads of companies.

I'm 17, Fully Comp 03' Mk2 Punto Active Sport 1.2 8v Liverpool Victoria £1766.66 with my dad on it. 50% discount when joining!! 10% discount online and 57% discount on my next quote if i don't crash!!!

when i was 17, my cinq 899 was only £480, with elephant, then went up to £600 when modded,

the 1.1 i got at 19 was £600 standard or now its £880 with adrian flux, fully comp with all mods declared and coverd, valued £5k,

they quotes seem really really expensive!
