Battery Warning stays on with engine switched off

Guys,

I would appreciate a response from someone. Does anyone know the cure for a battery warning light that comes on when the engine is switched off? It means I have to disconnect the battery every time I leave the car for any length of time. It's
Bravo 1.6SX. The Haynes manual does'nt list it at all.

probably a ****ed alternator.
