Bad understeer

I noticed of late that I am getting bad understeer especially when entering and leaving roundabouts. Once I get over 30mph the front end starts to push out. If I ease off the accelerator it comes back. The car was not like this when I got it first, I am wondering if it has anything to do with worn tyres or anti roll bar bushings.

could be worn tyres. could be road conditions. could be worn shocks.

could be ur just driving to hard ;)

I get this too on my new 17's :( I must admit I have only done this in the wet and I havent had a chance to use them in the dry yet...looking forward to it :)

bravo/brava's are quite well known for this, everyone I speak to that has one says they get bad understeer, but we all drive them quite hard :)

To be honest, i think its down to the tyres and suspension.

Its bad understeer but its predictable, I have noticed that the outside edge of front left is becoming worn,it might have something to do with it, would a lower tyre pressure in the front have any bearing on the handling?

17's on a bravo will make the understeer worse though.

My HGT understeers like a bitch, but thats definatly down to the way i drive :)

Lift off oversteer can be a bit hairy at times ;)

There is one simple way to deal with understeer, if you have got legal trustworthy tyres and good firm shocks and you know your car is all MOT passable, go to your local garage that you can trust and ask them to "track" your front tyres with a little Toe Out. Normally 2 degree's will do.
I had it done on my Fiat Marea weekend using Goodyear Hydragrip's, and I can tell you it will produce fantastic steering that can seriously beat those crappy little Nova's & Corsa's.

Tried the left foot braking...helps a lot..might up rate my front shockers

It has to be the tyres when i was on 14 inch steels with cheep tyres the car understeered all the time just didnt have the front grip!

As soon as i put my 17's with uniroyal rainsports tyres it was welded to the road! i can easily go over roundabouts at silly speeds (im not gonna post) and still have oversteer if i want it!

had a little bit of fun with an R5 turbo in the wet the other day he was fast in a straight line but as soon as he got to a roundabout he didnt have the grip! i went flying past as he nearly hit the barrier!

I will say now that i have replaced all my shock's, bushes and had the tracking done!

understeer on 17's in the dry is fun fun fun.. lol.. mmmmmmmmm... yum yum..

Ash, of course changing tyre compound is going to help ;) If you put good tyres on your 14" you'd have gotten far better grip.

'Uprated' front shocks will make understeer worse. You need to sort the rear end out, not the front.
