not only has the green uno failed its mot. the sound looking sill didnt stand up to persistant hammer blows.
On the way back from test centre across south london the Cambelt decided to slip off. had bearly anytools, so getting it back on and timed up was beyond me so had to tow it back on a rope. courtesy of a unwilling but brave friend!

So yeah, great weekend. Debating what to do next;

Do i Go get it with a trailer.
Go up on bus with a cambelt kit and some tools. get arches welder to bodge up sills get mot and come back.
Or option 3 Sell it as is!

Hmmmm... sorta depends whether you have another Uno that's waiting for parts off this green one.

If not, then your plan sounds fair - get it running and get it fixed, it's probably not as expensive as it sounds, and timing the engine really is quite easy, you could do it in a carpark (etc.) if you have a jack. Don't forget to take the tools to move the alternator, I think it's a slightly odd 16mm size for those two nuts and a big tyre lever always helps for V-belt tensioning. Or - I just remembered, perhaps you can unbolt the pulley off the crankshaft and leave the alternator where it is :eek:
