General Back box question...

My back box may have a small hole in it. MOT failure perhaps?
I wanna replace it anyway before the MOT in April. Any suggestions for a good one (and not too expensive!) (and not a big noisy one), just a nice but different note,

What are the likes of Peco, Ansa, Jetex and others like

The Jetex cat back is nice.

Supersprint is the defacto standard for a quiet performance back box, however you'll need to use the existing exhaust to make a mid-section .

another question, if i do have to only replace the rear box, will this fot on ok to the Cat/c part? Also, is the Lambada sensor inside the Cat/c?

From a decent manuf, no problems. Lambda is seperate from cat, on the manifold, so you won't go anywhere near that.

As a side note, depending on size, hole in back box is an MOT failure probably on emissions, could always weld it up though but as your replacing this doesnt really matter

went to Farmers Autocare here in Edinburgh (Tom Farmers new stable, he used to own Kwik Fit)......they are looking for £70 for a new back box. Is this steep? They can only supply a whole system in stainless steel, nearly £300 ! ...err no thanks.

£70 for a cat back, fitted, is well cheap. £300 for a whole system in stainless is a good deal, as well.

its the rear box that has a hole. Quoted £70 earlier today for a standard replacement. This a good price?

You'd pay 120 or so at KwickFit, but, if in doubt, get another quote.

if i bought an aftermarket back box online, how easy are these to fit?

To make it easy to fit you want a cat back. They're easy enough. Generally the hardest bit is getting the mounting rubbers on and off. But for anything decent, you're likely to pay more than £70.
