General AUX Cable with blue and me?

Is it possible to fit an aux cable to a 2008 Fiat Grande Punto with blue and me with the usb in the glove box, and the AUX setting on the radio? I've read so many things about you can and cannot, and you've either got to have the yellow or blue ended aux cable. Can anyone give a definitive answer?

It seemed like such a bodge, in the end I sacked it off and changed to an aftermarket HU.
