Ill get the time sheet up soon but i think i did really well for a first time!.
I have had quite a bit of practice but that is just a load of cones and no rules.
worse cock up was on that last bit of the video where i went to wide and had a cone right infront of me (n) did crap on that test all day. it just seemed that i couldnt have the right gear... either bouncing off the limiter or or not enough torque to pull out of each bend

The fly-off hand brake helped loads (altho im still a bit poo at using it at the right time) and the rear wheels lock easy enough now ive tweaked them a bit

Great stuff! (y) it does seem like you have alot of rear grip! I did an autotest for the first time in my cinq at the end of december and found that 2nd gear wasn't quite torquey enough (standard 1108). Would post my results up on here but dont wanna hijack your thread matey!

cinq does have a surprising amount of rear grip. think i only felt it "go" once on the whole day. and that was on the charity run at the end and trying to scare my mate
I used 2nd on all the other tests it needs the revs keeping high enough. mine will spin its wheels up in 2nd with throttle alone as long as the revs are above 5k ish (that is the screech you hear as 3:06 on the video) so it has got the power its just not in the right revs :(

do it :D same subject(y) ive got the results but i dont wanna post them up untill i figure out how to remove the names from it)

Cool. Well here's the results from the autotest on 27th of december.

http://www.rossmotorsports.co.uk/PDF's/Autotest 27-12-08 Results.pdf

Had trouble getting the back end out on a number of the tests as it was too grippy in some places, no fly off handbrake yet either! Couldn't fit Cinquecento in the car model column so its just under Fiat.

Look forward to seeing ur results m8 (y)

looks like you were having fun there - looking forward to seeing some more vids in the future!

Your car sounds awesome by the way (y)

i did better on my first runs which i never used my hand break and just took it calm. then i tired a few things and messed up more. guess its the only way to learn tho

This is only too true, smoothness is sometimes better than agressive handbrake turns and to be honest its a rediculous amount of fun no matter where u finish. Would highly recommend it to anyone who likes cheap, adrenaline fueled fun!

Keep updating your results on here as you go m8. Always interested to see how the little fiat's do and follow the progress.

I think your right.

it is a silly amount of fun. no wonder doing such stuff on the road illegal lol
It is cheap but im getting a bit to addicted to these things. Im also well into doing hill climes on my supermoto so it might be getting expensive.

also its still WAY cheaper then doing rally in cars which also requires you to spend loads on your car and what not.

Hi Craig

Have you got anti roll bars?

Noel

Hi Criag

You were pushing it hard then in the photo in 1st post, devil.

It might help to fit a rear bar, either if the roll causes you problems driving or you lift of a wheel at the rear. Hey I was not trying to maks a snide comment, does the roll cause you ar problem?

Did any of them have rear bars?

Noel

I take it this was a Production Car Autotest.
Lose the sack of spuds and do a full autotest, you'll go much quicker.

Cheers

yeh it was really more of a fun one but atleast it was timed. and done propper. (y) did a charity run at the end for air ambulance to. I did have the rear seats removed ;)

The photo was taken on the 360 turn so roll is to be expected (even more so with a passenger as rallycinq said) I dont think it is a problem. in fact once i get the hand of the hand break the back end should be sliding in that pic :)

In the clip I noticed that at one turn you used the hand brake and foot brake at the same time. Thats not going to work.

It does take practice to get the rear to break away when you want it to, but if you do it as you come off the throttle, the weight goes to the front of the car, so the handbrake works better too.

It might be worth taking along a couple of old steelies to pop on the back and blow them up to 40psi.

Cheers

Reasonable amounts of body roll isn't a problem & in my experience for autotesting the lack of roll is a huge issue along with having really good front brakes.

I can only reiterate that autotesting is a total blast regardless of what car you take to the event.

Well you have removed more than the rear seats?

A hand brake may leave you with less control, even if it is satisfying, like pushing out the tail in a Mx-5 or BMW.

But one of my mates used to do real well in an old austin 7 30 + years ago by the simple technique of asymetric handbraking by pulling the wire to the left or right rear wheel brake drum, both were exposed and accessible.

He was sneaky.

haha yes im a bit slow coming off the brake and back onto throttle.
im still all new to this and get in a mess when it comes to steering, braking, pulling hand brake, pressing throttle... all at the same time and really quickly.

I have no old steelies but i took a set of wheels with me. had the fronts pretty low and backs high

like a van or family car

everything in the rear was removed

The hand brake is a definite must. even more so in a FWD car in the tight stuff.

the hand brake your mate had is called fiddle brakes. there uses a lot in offroad cars and trails cars
