Hi guys

Just wondering, does the 500 have autolock function, i.e. when you drive off, normally over 8-10mph the doors automatically lock?

I have just seen a video on youtube of the Pandas menu and it had 'Door Lock OFF' on the menu. It wasn't a UK car as it was LHD - do RHD Pandas have drive lock - autolock?

Hiya

My dealer told me that the auto lock kicks in after 4mph on the 500. We shall see - I should be taking delivery of her this week!

Yes, they have autolock. Mine activates at about 5mph, and can be clearly heard. When I first drove it off I thought a stone had hit the bodywork :p

Thanks for these instructions - it will be most useful as for the first few days of having the car I've been locking from the inside myself. I'll go out at lunchtime to the car park and try to figure out the menu system!

Didnt get a very good hand over then really, your selling dealer should have explained the car inside and out to you..... and given you a manual which is very useful... sorry if i seem rude

It might be a good idea if some people take 5 mins to look in the manual and see what comfort features they have and how to operate them. as a tech i had to.... its a real benefit honest.

I did look at the manual when I got home on Saturday night but to be honest it's like reading gobbledy gook until you actually need to know how to do something, then you look in the manual. It was nice for someone to tell me how to do it so I didn't have to search through the manual (some of my manual is still in italian!).

The handover told me about lights and stuff but he went so quickly through the menu business on the dashboard that it was just a blur ... I was more interested in just driving off - up since 5am and this was now 5pm!

Thanks to everyone for their replies. ;)

Pleased it has autolock, drive-lock or autoclose, whichever, it'll keep my partner happy as they're convinced I'm going to get car-jacked, Grand Theft Auto stylee, by a badger presumably - I mean, I live in rural Staffordshire, not Harlem!

LOL, there were actually a few carjackings of new cars around by where I live, some got their cars stolen, one woman in a Golf GTI actually had the doors locked and ran one of the thieves over. Good girl! (y)

What is auto lock for?
Does it stay locked fot the rest of the journey?

honey, it is a security feature and is primarily to prevent anyone gaining entry to the car whilst you are in it, especially useful in towns/cities as it stops opportunist thieves opening your passenger door and stealing items on the passenger seat such as your handbag whilst you are stationary at traffic lights etc.
You unlock the car at the end of a trip by opening from inside as normal
In the event of an accident they unlock automatically so as to enable assistance to be given.

:yeahthat: they open if you have an accident and the airbag's deploy iirc (y)

The car manual talks about an 'autoclose' feature that locks the doors when speed exceeds 20km. Mine certainly doesn't do that so I would like to activate this feature. I went to the service and they told me my panda has no such feature. The model is 'dynamic'. It has central locking and a key with remote control. Is that possible? Thanks

Well, there were cases where expensive cars were bumped in the country to open all doors and then carjacked. Not sure how they would drive off as fuel is supposed to be cut off in the event of an accident. MultiAir Man watch those crazy badgers... :)

Err, this is the 500 section of the forum.

However, I have a 2010 Panda Dynamic with remote central locking and can confirm that it does not have an autoclose option.

I expect the Eleganza & 100HP have this option, hence the reference in the manual. Somewhere buried in the small print will be a statement to the effect that not all options listed in the manual are fitted to all models.

Hope this helps.
